The State of Louisiana's Department of Environmental Quality is seeking an Environmental Scientist to support its water quality program. The role involves reviewing and reporting water quality data while adhering to state and federal regulations, and providing training and mentoring to other environmental scientists.

Responsibilities
Responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and reporting water quality data
Expected to become familiar with Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) contract laboratory requirements
Understands and follows Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs) related to assigned data sets
Understands and follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Able to read, understand, and evaluate water quality data reports, including quality control (QC) information, using established analytical methods (such as EPA and Standard Methods)
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree in an environmental, biological, atmospheric, chemical, health, nuclear or physical science field, an engineering field, a geography/geosciences field, a natural resources field, or in a statistics or quantitative methods field; OR
A master's degree or doctorate in an environmental, biological, atmospheric, chemical, health, nuclear or physical science field, an engineering field, a geography/geosciences field, a natural resources field, or in a statistics or quantitative methods field
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Technical, analytical, and computer skills with an understanding of spreadsheets, word processing, database querying, coding, data reporting tools, and statistical applications
Ability to read, understand, and evaluate water quality data reports, including quality control (QC) information, using established analytical methods (such as EPA and Standard Methods)
