Responsibilities

Maintain smooth operation of voice and data networks. Plans, evaluates, coordinates, and performs installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network
Work in developing technical expertise in all areas of voice and data networks hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as switches, routers, firewalls, authentication servers, encryptors etc
Work with network management software platforms
May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings aligning with future requirements factoring in redundancy and required network uptime
Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions, technical diagrams, and other documentation. Where no documentation exists, assist in developing documentation
Provide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems
Assist with coordination of third-party maintenance for network equipment or with vendors for third-party support
Willingness and availability to work outside normal business hours (evenings and weekends) as needed
Must be able to work with general supervision and follow established procedures

Required

Typically requires a University/bachelor's degree with less than 2 years of relevant experience, will consider equivalent of a minimum 4 years of relevant Network or IT Systems Administration experience
Experience with Networking equipment such as Cisco (or other product) routers, switches, firewalls, and/or intrusion detection systems, including software upgrades
Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Preferred

Cisco ISE experience with 802.1X
SolarWinds experience
Setting up client server environments for government networks
Security + and or CCNA certifications currently active
Experience with current cabling and fiber standards
Experience with access control list, security posture, and vendor best practices
Experience with Visio diagramming and design capabilities
1-2 years of experience with network management software
Willingness and availability to travel domestically as needed
Knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting of encryption devices
Effective customer service skills, including oral and written communications
Experience with platforms such as IP telephony, NTP servers, GemOne, and SolarWinds
Ability to work under time constraints
Experience with classified computing, STIG compliance, and network refreshes
Current DoD Top Secret level security clearance
