Join the Alaska Department of Health’s Public Health Data Modernization Team and help transform how we manage and protect vital health data statewide
You’ll lead innovative database modernization efforts using cloud-first solutions and Microsoft technologies, ensuring data is accurate, secure, and accessible

Required

Proficiency in database management and data modernization, with knowledge of database design and optimization
A genuine love for all things data and a commitment to leveraging data to drive impactful projects
Excellent problem-solving abilities and a collaborative mindset
Understanding of entity relationship diagramming, data warehousing, cloud-based database technologies, and current best practices in Microsoft SQL Server administration (Microsoft experience preferred, but other database systems is also valued)
Solid abilities in database service continuity, reliability, and availability design
Four years of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language. At least one year of the four must have involved programming database applications at the full proficiency programmer level in a wide area networked DBMS environment
Four years of work experience supporting and maintaining a wide area networked DBMS in a database administration environment that included: 1) leading or serving as shift supervisor for computer operations in a mainframe or database server computer environment or assisting and training on designing and implementing basic computer software; and 2) at least six months actual programming experience in an internal database language
One year of database management systems experience at a level equivalent to a Database Specialist 1 for the State of Alaska
Two years database management systems experience at a level equivalent to a Database Specialist 2 with the State of Alaska
