Animal Toxicology Assistant Research Scientist

Responsibilities

Support the design of experiments, developing and refining protocols, and performing advanced in vivo and in vitro procedures
Provide surgical and technical expertise across multiple animal research models and contributes to program deliverables by preparing samples, maintaining laboratory equipment, conducting basic tests and laboratory experiments, ensuring lab cleanliness, analyzing data, and performing small animal model surgical procedures
Actively engages in specialized in vivo and in vitro research projects to support, develop and refine technical procedures in toxicology, biochemistry and animal sciences
Prepare for laboratory research projects, maintains laboratory equipment and ensures laboratory cleanliness standards are met
Perform advanced surgical procedures across multiple species on assigned projects, adhering to established protocols and animal welfare standards, including pre- and post-surgical requirements
Apply independent problem-solving skills to experimental tasks and troubleshoot complex procedures
Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis of scientific data using appropriate statistical methods, interpreting findings to support program objectives
Conduct behavioral assessments in animal models to evaluate pharmacological effects using innovative methodologies
Maintain eligibility under the Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (cPRP) and ensuring compliance with safety and security regulations

Required

Bachelor's degree in Biology, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Animal Sciences, or a related field
Four (4) years direct experience with surgical and technical solutions across multiple animal research models, maintaining laboratory equipment, conducting basic tests and laboratory experiments, ensuring lab cleanliness, analyzing data, and performing small animal model surgical procedures
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
U.S. Citizenship is required
