Communications Coordinator II
The City of Ridgefield is seeking a Communications Coordinator II to perform specialized duties related to the research, analysis, and review of technical and legal issues concerning debt. The role involves explaining department actions to taxpayers, maintaining account follow-ups, and preparing various reports.

Responsibilities
Under general supervision, at a developmental level, performs specialized duties in the research, analysis, and review of technical, legal or procedural issues concerning debt administered by the Department of Revenue and dept referred from other areas
Performs specialized collection duties involving in-state and out-of-state accounts referred to the various enforcement programs
Analyzes the mainframe tax systems; ascertains the status of accounts, independently explains Department actions, policies and requirements to English or Spanish speaking taxpayers or their representatives
Determines the total account balance and computes interest on all types of debt for collection purposes; negotiates feasible means of payment or refers cases to various enforcement programs
Maintains and monitors account follow-up, initiates liens and monitors statutes; initiates corrective action when errors have been verified
Accesses, analyzes and collects taxpayer cases in the Illinois Collection System (ICS) or in related PC systems; determines proper allocation of remittances
Confers and/or prepares correspondence to debtor or their representatives; compiles and prepares a variety of reports
Qualification
Required
Requires a bachelor's degree and completion of the Revenue Tax Specialist Trainee program or requires nine years supportive tax related experience, including completion of the Revenue Tax Specialist Trainee program
Requires working knowledge of current Illinois and federal tax laws, rules and regulations and out-of-state filing requirements
Requires working knowledge of tax terminology, forms and documents utilized in the processing of tax returns and supporting documentation
Requires working knowledge of methods and procedures used in compiling and recording statistical information
Requires working knowledge of manual and automated files, procedural manuals and other related materials utilized in the research and analysis of tax returns and supporting documentation for compliance with applicable tax regulations
Requires working knowledge of tax accounting theory, principles and practices
Requires working knowledge of computer systems as related to the processing of various tax information
Requires working knowledge of manual and automated office equipment
Requires working knowledge of public relations principles and practices
Requires ability to gain and maintain satisfactory working relationships with the public and other employees
Requires ability to compose correspondence to taxpayers, their representatives and others
Physical requirements are walking, standing, bending, reaching above shoulder level and lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds
Requires ability to write and speak Spanish at a colloquial skill level
