Senior Accountant
Aeris is a growing software engineering and scientific technical services company focused on national security, aviation, and life sciences. They are seeking a Senior Accountant to manage financial statements, ensure compliance with GAAP and government regulations, and support budgeting and financial analysis efforts.

Responsibilities
The ability to complete tasks that adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and best practices
Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP, US Government compliant accounting, and regulatory standards
Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness
Manage accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing, and cash and asset management processes
Perform general ledger accounting activities, ensuring proper debits & credits entry through double entry bookkeeping principles
Assist with regulatory reporting requirements for governmental agencies
Support internal controls compliance, to safeguard assets and ensure integrity of financial data
Write detailed financial reports for management review, highlighting key insights and variances
Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures with precision and timeliness
Utilize accounting software such as PROCAS and other financial management tools to streamline processes
Support budgeting efforts, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on technical accounting issues such as payroll, account reconciliation, and financial concepts
Qualification
Required
Strong understanding of both standard Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Government-compliant accounting
Ability to complete tasks that adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP, US Government compliant accounting, and regulatory standards

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively with attention to detail
Knowledge of technical accounting principles such as double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits
Knowledge of, and ability to adhere to and apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Proficiency with accounting software (examples include: PROCAS, QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or other financial management tools)
Demonstrated expertise in cash management, account reconciliation (including general ledger reconciliation), budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately
Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, Adobe, Teams and other virtual meeting apps)
Written and oral communication skills
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5-7 Years Experience
Ability to be granted access to controlled unclassified information (CUI) or be eligible to secure a Department of War DoW security clearance
Preferred
Direct experience using PROCAS account software, or other US Government compliant accounting job-cost accounting software
Familiarity with government contracts and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
CPA, EA, or Masters Degree in Accounting or Finance
Active security clearance
