Water Resources Source Control Inspector
The City of Livermore is seeking a Water Resources Source Control Inspector to ensure compliance with wastewater and stormwater discharge regulations. The role involves performing inspections, sampling, and public outreach activities while working under general supervision.

Responsibilities
Inspects wastewater discharge sources, site runoff, and hazardous materials facilities; collects and analyzes samples; operates and maintains sampling equipment; and conducts educational outreach events and presentations
Reviews plans for compliance with regulations; processes permits; maintains records and prepares correction and enforcement orders; gathers evidence for administrative and legal action; recommends ordinance changes to comply with State and Federal regulations; assists in preparation of recommendations for legal action; recommends enforcement action; works persuasively and tactfully to gain cooperation of industrial and commercial firms and residents in resolving problems; works closely with Fire Department to coordinate hazardous materials activities and record keeping; and uses personal computer to perform word processing, spreadsheets, and specialized functions
Qualification
Required
One year of experience conducting industrial waste inspections, stormwater inspections, wastewater laboratory work, or similar related work in the wastewater/storm water inspection field
Equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by two years of college course work in an engineering/scientific field which included chemistry, biology, environmental science, or other related science courses
Possession of a valid California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record as determined by the City
Possession of a California Water Environment Association Environmental Compliance Inspector Grade I certificate is required prior to the completion of the probationary period
Willingness and ability to work regular and emergency overtime and be on-call, as required
Work under all conditions such as dust, pollen, chemical, heat, cold, inclement weather, and in the presence of noxious odors
Travel out of town to attend meetings, seminars, and conferences during work and non-work hours
Respond to notifications of spills and discharges
Preferred
A Bachelor's degree is highly desirable
Any recent training such as academic courses and certification programs which are relevant to this job classification
Benefits
$1,950/month towards medical, dental, and vision; any unused portion of the employee's benefit amount will be added as taxable income to the employee's earnings.
FT - $60,000 EE coverage or PT - $30,000 EE coverage, ER paid
$1,000 dependent coverage, ER paid
60% of base monthly earnings to $5,000/month max. (180 day waiting period)
ER will contribute 4% of base pay into RHS account.
12 observed holidays or in lieu day off or if work 2.5 times pay.
96.2 hours/year
3 regularly scheduled workdays max for immediate family.
Full-Time: 16 hours per year
75% reimbursement for tuition & books
100% reimbursement for required licenses and certifications
Three (3) sessions per incident per family member. Unlimited telephonic consultations.
