Technical Instructor & Engineering Writer
PGS Worldwide is hiring a Technical Instructor & Engineering Writer in Elkridge, MD for a 12-month contract-to-hire position. This dual-function role supports a major defense program, combining hands-on technical instruction with engineering documentation development for advanced radar and sensor systems.

Responsibilities
Develop and update technical training curricula for system theory, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance
Conduct classroom and hands-on instruction for customers in both domestic and international environments
Collaborate with engineers, writers, and program leads to ensure technical accuracy and training effectiveness
Write and edit technical publications (hardware description, operation, repair, parts data) that comply with DoD and military standards
Convert complex engineering data into clear, user-friendly training and technical documentation
Perform quality reviews of training materials and technical manuals
Support configuration control and maintain document accuracy throughout program lifecycles
Serve as a subject matter liaison between engineering and training teams, ensuring consistency and completeness of instructional content
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline or minimum 3 years of military operations/maintenance experience with radar, electro-optics, communications, networks, or IT-based systems
Active DoD Secret Clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
Demonstrated experience in developing or assisting with instructional curriculum, including lesson plans, course materials, job aids, and trainee guides
Ability to develop, update, and deliver training in accordance with Instructional Systems Design (ISD) or Systems Approach to Training (SAT) standards
Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
Familiarity with technical writing for military or aerospace systems — including authoring operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic electronic publishing tools
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally and perform tasks in diverse or demanding environments
Preferred
Certified Military Instructor or equivalent teaching certification
Experience developing SCORM-compliant courseware or e-learning content
5+ years of technical/engineering writing experience for DoD or defense contractors
Experience publishing documentation in HTML, XML, or SGML formats
Familiarity with military specifications, standards, and style guides
Experience supporting sensor or radar system training and technical documentation projects
