Senior Director of Business Development
The Steely Group is seeking a Senior Director of Business Development to establish new enterprise business opportunities with pharma sponsors, biotech companies, and CROs. The role involves leading full-cycle enterprise sales engagements and driving cross-functional collaboration to align the company's AI/ML capabilities with client needs.
Responsibilities
Establish new enterprise business opportunities with pharma sponsors, biotech companies, and CROs for platform adoption and strategic partnerships
Lead full-cycle enterprise sales engagements, including prospecting, stakeholder alignment, solution positioning, contracting, and early account success
Develop and present commercial and strategic business cases for prioritized opportunities, including value drivers, assumptions, risks, and expected outcomes
Initiate, lead, and manage complex external engagements with senior executive stakeholders with limited supervision
Drive cross-functional collaboration across Product, Data Science, Medical, and Operations to align Company ’s AI/ML capabilities with client needs
Lead commercial negotiations including pricing, MSAs, and SOWs in partnership with Legal and Procurement
Support account expansion, renewals, and long-term partnership growth
Contribute to the evolution of Company ’s overall commercial and business development strategy
Represent Company at industry conferences, partnering events, and executive meetings; build and maintain senior-level relationships across the biopharma ecosystem
Qualification
Required
7+ years of enterprise business development, strategic partnerships, or consultative sales experience within life sciences, clinical technology, or data-driven platforms
Proven ability to close $1M+ ACV enterprise deals in a quota-carrying role
Demonstrated experience owning the full sales cycle from cold outreach to close
Strong understanding of clinical development workflows and the application of AI/ML in modern trial design and execution
Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate effectively across scientific, operational, and commercial stakeholders
Proven experience negotiating complex commercial agreements with Procurement and Legal
Collaborative, team-oriented mindset in a fast-paced, scaling environment
Preferred
Location: Ideal Candidate is on East Coast
Prior experience selling AI/ML, analytics, RWE, or clinical development technology platforms
2–3 years of consultative or advisory experience (e.g., solution selling, strategic services, analytics)
Advanced degree (MBA, PhD, or MD) valued but not required
