Responsibilities

Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
Wetland Delineation and Stream Assessments
Chesapeake Bay Preservation Studies and Approvals
Preparation of reports, mapping, and supporting documentation
Participating in industry organizations
Inter-department coordination and communication within WSSI
Other tasks and assistance to other departments at WSSI as needed
It is estimated that this position will consist of approximately 50% office work and 50% field work. Some projects may require overnight travel in the region

Qualification

Environmental Science DegreeEnvironmental Regulations KnowledgeDigital Mapping ProgramsField ExperienceCommunication Skills

Required

Bachelor's degree (or greater) in environmental science, forestry, geology or related field
Field experience and ability to work both independently and on a team is a must
Working knowledge of environmental regulations pertaining to 401/404 Clean Water Act, Virginia Water Protection (VWP) permit program, Virginia Tidal Wetlands Act, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act, local environmental ordinances
Working knowledge of ASTM Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessment Standards
Working knowledge of RCRA and CERCLA regulations and Virginia regulations
Experience with digital mapping programs (GIS, CAD, or similar software) and use of Global Positioning Systems (GPS) units
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; candidate should demonstrate the ability to prepare documents that are technically and grammatically correct and fully referenced and must be able to communicate clearly with staff and clients
Ability to lift heavy equipment and objects up to fifty (50) pounds and perform fieldwork in adverse weather conditions
