Account Executive
Shields Group Search is partnering with a rapidly scaling construction-technology startup building the next-generation operating system for commercial HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing suppliers and subcontractors. They are seeking a Founding Account Executive to own revenue from day one and help define the go-to-market engine in a high-growth environment.
Responsibilities
Own the full sales cycle from prospecting through close
Build repeatable outbound and inbound motions from the ground up
Develop relationships across reps, contractors, distributors, and manufacturers
Represent the company at key industry events and conferences to drive pipeline and partnerships
Provide fast feedback loops on messaging, pricing, and GTM performance
Master HVAC takeoff, estimating, and quoting workflows with training provided
Translate customer pain points into actionable product requirements
Partner with product and engineering on roadmap and customer experience
Advise founders on positioning, packaging, and expansion strategy
Stand up foundational sales processes, CRM workflows, and enablement materials
Define qualification criteria, objection handling, and demo flows
Help craft the value proposition as the platform expands into electrical, plumbing, and broader MEP
Lead onboarding, training, and expansion opportunities with early customers
Qualification
Required
3-10+ years of sales experience in construction technology, ideally:
SaaS platforms for construction workflows
Software sold to subcontractors or suppliers
Workflow-heavy B2B platforms adopted by operations teams
Proven track record selling into construction or industrial customers
Experience running complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise sales cycles
Strong understanding of field workflows and adoption challenges
Thrives in early-stage environments with high ownership and ambiguity
Excellent communication skills and strong technical curiosity
Preferred
Experience selling into MEP customers including mechanical, electrical, or plumbing sectors
Background selling to estimators, project managers, or preconstruction teams
Exposure to takeoff, estimating, or BIM-related platforms
Experience building GTM motions from early stage to repeatability
Candidates who began their careers in construction and later moved into technology sales
Candidates from tech companies focused on the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing) industry
