City of Forney is seeking a Public Works Technician who enjoys outdoor work and making a difference in the community. This entry-level position involves construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of city street and stormwater infrastructure, as well as operating various maintenance equipment.

Responsibilities

Maintains and repairs all aspects of street, drainage, and alley maintenance, street signs, street striping, other roadway markings, and construction; performs line locates; responds to trouble calls on roads and equipment; patrols streets to identify and provide maintenance for traffic signals, signs, guardrails, barricades, and markings that need adjustment or repair

Operates equipment, tools, and motor vehicles such as trucks, specialty vehicles, and other similar maintenance or construction equipment to conform with applicable regulatory standards and City standards

Safely operates equipment and tools used at work site; places traffic control flags, signs, and cones to direct traffic around work sites, and operates and maintains hand and power tools

On-call for emergency situations

Responds tactfully to questions and comments from the public and delegates to appropriate staff

Performs other duties as assigned
