City Soil Farm Operations Coordinator
King County Wastewater Treatment Division is dedicated to protecting public health and water quality while focusing on equity and social justice. Responsibilities
Manage all operations at the City Soil Farm and South Plant demonstration garden; serve as primary laborer and lead for plant propagation, planting, harvest and maintenance of farm and demonstration garden
Coordinate with WTD education staff and partners for yearly farm planning, programs, purchasing needs and managing tasks for on-site visitors
Train and manage volunteers, interns and school groups completing farm labor tasks; manage communication for daily logistics with partners who are visiting site (harvest schedules, volunteer schedules, directing on the ground tasks, etc.)
Support expansion of community partnerships and programming focused on City Soil farm and demonstration garden. Educate visitors on waste to resource story (volunteers, event participants, partner staff, schools and interns)
Maintain records and data including expenses and equipment needs and purchasing. Provide quarterly reporting (participants, volunteers, food donated/harvest)
Qualification
Required
Minimum of two years direct professional farming and/or gardening experience. Including developing of planting plans, greenhouse propagation and fruit and vegetable harvest
Experience training and mentoring volunteers and interns in outdoor physical work
Experience working with diverse and underserved students and adult groups
Experience in customer service and comfort with public speaking
Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
Washington State Driver's License
Preferred
Two years direct professional farming and/or gardening experience
