Responsibilities

Assists in a variety of outdoor recreational activities and assignments in support of day camps, overnight camping trips, afterschool programs, special events, and other Park District programs
Provides input for record keeping and performs other work as required
Leads and participates in a variety of outdoor recreational activities and assignments in support of day camps, overnight camping trips, afterschool programs, special events, and other Park District programs; and performs record keeping and other work as required
Focused on learning the principals of leading recreation programs, performing all duties of a Recreation Aide while providing direction to Leaders-in-Training, and may transport program participants and staff
Leads and participates in a variety of outdoor recreational activities and assignments in support of day camps, overnight camping trips, afterschool programs, special events, and other Park District programs; and performs record keeping and other work as required
Providing lead direction to Recreation staff members and leading program activities, and may transport program participants and staff
Serves as program lead for a variety of outdoor recreational activities and assignments in support of day camps, overnight camping trips, afterschool programs, special events, and other Park District programs; performs the support tasks necessary to organize and deliver recreation programs; and performs record keeping and other work as required

Required

Must be 15 and 1/2 years of age or older, and must be in attendance at, or on legitimate leave from, a high school, trade school, or college or university
Possession of a valid California Driver's License as a condition of initial and continued employment
Must obtain Basic First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of initial job offer
Must pass a Level 1 background screening which includes DOJ fingerprinting and criminal history review and subject to tuberculosis (TB) clearance
Required to wear a Park District uniform
May be required to work unusual hours, weekends, and holidays
Must be able to stand, walk, twist, bend, reach above and below shoulders, lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds, and depending upon assignment, may be required to swim, ride a bike, hike, kayak, canoe, or perform other applicable physical duties
This position is designated as a Mandated Reporter under the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA). Mandated reporters are individuals who are obligated by law to report suspected cases of child abuse and neglect

Preferred

Bilingual or multi-lingual skills are preferred
Some college is preferred
