Responsibilities
Performs case management, determines medical eligibility for funds per specific guidelines
Provides education, instruction, information and guidance concerning medical needs or social issues
Provides public health nursing services to individuals and families
Participates in the operation of public health clinics
Provides case management for clients
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Nursing or related field
Six months to one year experience
Valid State Driver's License
California Registered Nurse
Public Health Nurse
Knowledge of applicable state, federal and local ordinances, laws, rules and regulations
Knowledge of nursing process including assessment, nursing diagnosis, identification of client needs
Knowledge of planning and development of individual service plans, implementation and evaluation
Knowledge of child growth and development, and procedures involved in promoting maternal and child health
Knowledge of administration of immunizations and tests and their possible side effects and complications
Knowledge of evaluative and screening tests for development, growth and function of clients
Skills in counseling and risk assessment
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to manage difficult clients and dangerous situations
Ability to use all computer applications and hardware related to performance of the essential functions of the job
Ability to communicate effectively with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds

Holidays: Mendocino observes 11 paid holidays per year. In addition, each employee is granted 24 hours of personal leave time upon the successful completion of the probationary period.
Life Insurance: Coverage of $20,000 is provided by the County.
Sick Leave: Paid sick leave accrues at the rate of 1.25 days per months, or 15 days per year.
Vacation: Accrues at the rate of two weeks per year for three years. Three weeks per year after three years, four weeks after eight years and five weeks after 15 years.
Retirement: Covered under Social Security and the 1937 act, both employees and the County pay into the retirement fund.
