Start in 2026 SummerMaineHealth is a healthcare organization offering a summer undergraduate research program at the MaineHealth Institute for Research. The Research Interns will conduct research in various clinical and biomedical science fields, engage in mentored projects, and participate in workshops and lectures to enhance their understanding of biomedical research.

Responsibilities
Conduct research in diverse clinical and biomedical science fields during the summer months
Participate in mentored research projects with faculty scientists and clinicians
Attend lectures and workshops featuring topics including bioethics, animal use in biomedical science and scientific presentation skills
Observe or learn techniques in practical laboratory and/or clinical research experiences
Explore the practical aspects of biomedical research by participating in ongoing projects
Build a network of research professionals to assist in career development
Qualification
Required
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. Students whose GPA is not 3.0 or above may note extenuating circumstances in their MHIR-Specific Application
Applicants must be enrolled as a student in an undergraduate college program or community college program or be a high school senior at least 18 years of age. College seniors who graduate in the 2025-2026 academic year are eligible to apply
Must work independently, take initiative to complete assigned projects with minimal direction, and be able to prioritize tasks within an assigned project
Ability to maintain confidentiality in the performance of duties
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and other technologies
