Responsibilities
Probe large quantities of sensor data with signal processing and advanced data analytics to uncover, understand, and exploit complex phenomenology
Research and develop innovative statistical learning models for complex data problems to identify opportunities through various AI, statistical, mining, algorithmic, and visualization techniques
Contribute to the development and implementation of department vision and strategies to drive employee engagement; improve hiring, development, training and retention of top talent; balance process compliance against innovation; and reduce bureaucracy
Manage personnel assignments in a highly dynamic and fast-paced research environment
Conduct performance and salary reviews
Mentor, challenge, and identify opportunities for team members to develop skills needed to pursue tailored career/development paths
Develop and implement strong processes with emphasis on quantitative management, continuous improvement, and usage of common processes across programs, as appropriate
Ensure organizational compliance with corporate/sector/organizational policies/procedures
Provide management guidance to achieve outstanding cost, schedule and technical performance
Take responsibility for technical guidance and oversight in developing technical and cost proposals
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's of Science in a STEM discipline and a minimum of 8 years of progressively increasing responsibility and engineering experience, or a Masters of Science in a STEM discipline and a minimum of 6 years of progressively increasing responsibility and engineering experience, or a Ph.D in a STEM discipline and a minimum of 4 years of progressively increasing responsibility and engineering experience
Extensive experience working in Python, MATLAB, or similar high-level analysis and visualization language
Experience in the development of scientific data exploitation systems, including analysis of large data sets, algorithm development, and working with software teams to transition algorithms to the field
Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills
A proven track record of leading a team of engineers, establishing strong cross-functional relationships, and managing stakeholder expectations (internal and external)
US Citizen
Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain additional project-specific clearance
Ability to work onsite full-time at the Woodland Hills, CA campus
Preferred
Proficiency with C and/or C++
Experience with algorithm design, prototyping, and test, particularly for signal processing or image processing applications
Experience with current artificial intelligence/machine learning model development and training
Experience as Principal Investigator on algorithm development or data analytics programs
Experience with GitLab
