Technical Designer - Sleepwear & Apparel

PSI (Proteam Solutions) is seeking an experienced Technical Designer to support the Technical Design team across multiple product categories with a strong emphasis on sleepwear, intimates, shapewear, and related apparel. The role involves managing technical development from concept through production while ensuring brand integrity and delivering best-in-class fit, comfort, and performance.

Responsibilities

Evaluate proto samples to ensure alignment with design aesthetic, fit intent, construction standards, and quality expectations
Lead fit sessions on a live model; document corrections through written notes, technical measurements, digital images, and clear construction direction
Support regional Technical Design partners throughout the fit approval cycle and ensure design intent is accurately executed
Identify production, quality, or costing risks early in development; recommend solutions that uphold brand standards and operational requirements
Maintain garment consistency across categories by applying quality, fit, and construction standards with accuracy
Partner closely with Design, Merchandising, Product Development, Product Performance, Raw Materials, Production & Sourcing, QA, and external vendors
Raise business-critical issues in a timely manner and support the broader Technical Design team in meeting calendar milestones
Provide technical guidance during product development and contribute to cross-functional reviews, adjusting communication style based on audience
Participate in competitive analysis, new initiatives, and process-improvement efforts to elevate product performance and customer satisfaction
Respond to customer feedback, analyze root causes, and recommend adjustments that support product excellence and brand integrity
Track workflow, manage seasonal deadlines, and maintain accurate technical documentation, including specs, proto management, fit comments, and calendar updates
Utilize PLM/PDM systems to manage specifications and ensure data accuracy throughout the development lifecycle
Support the organization and management of proto samples, fit archives, and all technical materials for assigned product categories

Required

Technical degree in garment construction, patternmaking, Technical Design, or related discipline; equivalent work experience considered
6–8 years of industry experience within sleepwear, intimates, or apparel; knowledge of fully-fashioned sweaters is a plus
Strong understanding of patternmaking, fit, garment construction, grading, and manufacturing techniques
Proficiency with PLM/PDM systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); 3D software experience (Clo3D, Browzwear, etc.) is a bonus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical information clearly and thoroughly
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy
Demonstrated ability to identify issues and develop solutions beyond established guidelines
Flexible, collaborative, and comfortable learning new processes and adapting to changing business needs
