Responsibilities

Direct, supervise, coordinate, and schedule all mechanical construction activities across multiple projects, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, sheet metal, welding, millwrighting, rigging, wastewater treatment, water/sewer systems, central heating plants, and industrial machinery
Manage and lead mechanical crews, foremen, and subcontractors, including training, mentoring, performance management, and fostering a culture of teamwork, safety, and excellence
Serve as the primary liaison between project management, owners, inspectors, AHJs, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure effective communication and coordination
Plan and execute projects from pre-construction through commissioning, including participation in pre-construction conferences, project start-up activities, and three-phase inspection meetings
Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and look-ahead schedules; provide input on baseline schedules, durations, and sequencing to meet project milestones and deadlines
Oversee budget and cost control, including familiarity with subcontractor budgets, managing resources efficiently, minimizing extra work, and supporting monthly progress billing
Manage overall quality, production, and conformance of work to contract documents, project specifications, engineering drawings, and applicable national and local building codes
Provide technical oversight, including interpreting drawings and specifications, resolving field issues, coordinating equipment and material placement, and supporting system commissioning
Implement, enforce, and oversee site safety and quality control programs, ensuring strict adherence to OSHA regulations, company policies, and all applicable safety standards
Coordinate daily field activities with the Project Manager, Quality Control Manager, and Site Safety and Health Officer
Manage logistics and materials, including ordering, deliveries, staging, loading/unloading, equipment usage (e.g., cranes and earth-moving equipment), site organization, and cleanliness
Attend and lead weekly subcontractor coordination meetings, owner meetings, and other required project meetings
Maintain accurate daily records, review timesheets for accuracy, prepare daily and weekly reports, track progress, and communicate project status to management and stakeholders
Continuously identify and resolve project risks, schedule impacts, and field conflicts to maintain productivity, safety, and quality outcomes

Required

Strong self-motivation with an emphasis on punctuality, reliability, and consistent attendance
Minimum 10–20 years of experience in similar construction projects, including building renovations and new construction (government and/or secure facilities preferred)
Experience managing USACE and/or NAVFAC government construction projects
Proven ability to solve problems independently and adapt quickly to changing conditions, including unforeseen government schedules
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated leadership capabilities
Extensive experience with mechanical systems, including HVAC, chilled and heating water systems, plumbing, piping, sheet metal, wastewater treatment facilities, and related infrastructure
Strong working knowledge of mechanical codes, standards, and best practices
Ability to read, interpret, and understand blueprints, mechanical drawings, schematics, specifications, and submittal data
General knowledge of multiple trades, including building construction, insulation, control systems, fire alarm, fire suppression, and electrical systems
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple subcontractors and project teams simultaneously
Proficiency with project management and documentation tools, including Procore, RMS, Microsoft Word, Excel, PDF tools, and scheduling software such as MS Project
OSHA 30-hour certification required
