Financial Aid Advisor/Verification Coordinator
The Colorado Department of Revenue is seeking a Financial Aid Advisor/Verification Coordinator to support students and families in navigating financial aid processes. This role involves managing financial aid applications, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing exceptional customer service to a diverse student population.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Analyze federal and state documentation and verification worksheets
Evaluate original FAFSA application to resolve conflicting information
Ensure compliance in student eligibility requirements
Coordinate requests for additional information from students
Maintain current written CCD procedures
Report weekly statistics to Associate Director of Financial Aid Operations
Recommend form updates as needed (in conjunction with Associate Director of Operations)
Process ISIR corrections
Serve on the Professional Judgment Committee
Process Income Adjustment Appeals
Monitor and resolve issues with discrepancy reports
Investigate potential fraud and fraud referrals
Resolve C-flag, rejects and comment code
Coordinate data load processes, including batch posting and suspense files
Assist students and parents with application and eligibility requirements
Provides exceptional customer service in-person or via email/phone
Run daily reports for ready-for-review, C-flags, discrepancy, data load
Conduct and attend professional training to maintain program integrity
Other Duties As Assigned
Qualification
Required
Associate degree in Business, Education, Social Sciences, Accounting, or a related field
Two (2) years of hands-on experience working in a college/university Financial Aid office performing: FAFSA review and needs analysis, Verification processing, ISIR review and correction, Resolving C-flags, comment codes, and rejected applications, Packaging aid and/or awarding
Commitment to quality customer service
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to handle numerous complex and routine tasks simultaneously
Human relations skills
Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
Ability to work with complex long and short-range concurrent planning for overlapping aid years
Ability to accommodate some weekend and evening hours
Working knowledge of Banner Financial Aid software
Experience Using Financial Aid Systems Such As COD, FAA Access, NSLDS, EdConnect, Regent, Cognos, Banner
