The Correctional Case Manager will carry a caseload of male medium custody level offenders, providing supportive counseling and coordinating rehabilitation programs while ensuring safety and compliance within the correctional environment.

Responsibilities

Assisting in major dynamic programs or coordinating major specialized programs for the rehabilitation of offenders such as offender work assignments, work release, education, or recreation; as well as transition planning and coordinating

Working under stressful conditions caused by direct contact with incarcerated offenders who can become physically violent and verbally abusive

Conducting continuous visual and audio surveillance of assigned work area

Operating various office machines accurately

Preparing written reports and forms reflecting accurate information reviewed from various sources

Demonstrating and instructing offenders in the proper and safe use of tools, equipment, and supplies

Reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating various documents and behavioral data gathered from interviews, written documentation, and personal observations

Performing crisis intervention and routine counseling, to include suicide prevention

Required

Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Recreation, or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of custody experience within the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction

An equivalent combination of training and experience

Knowledge of supportive counseling techniques
