Scientist, Peptide Discovery

NRT MedTech is seeking a highly motivated Scientist with expertise in display technologies for peptide/antibody discovery to help advance our drug discovery programs. In this role, you will design and execute experiments, analyze and present data, and contribute to cross-functional scientific discussions.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the peptide discovery and development process through applying knowledge of molecular biology, genetic engineering, and chemistry to build the next generation of peptide display platforms
Design and execute peptide library screens for the discovery and optimization of peptide hits for a given biological target of interest
Validate synthetically made compounds using binding and functional assays
Optimize properties through re-screening efforts, structure-based rational design, and bioconjugation
Contribute to data analysis, documentation, and scientific discussions across teams
Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, and excellent organizational, communication and presentation skills
Present experimental results at internal team meetings
Periodic travel to Chengdu, China may be required

Required

A Ph.D. degree and/or postdoctoral research in chemistry, biochemistry, or molecular biology with a strong focus on peptide display and discovery technologies
0-5 years of experience in a biotechnology/pharmaceutical company with a demonstrated leadership in peptide discovery and a track record of advancing peptide-based therapeutics, from concept to clinical development
Strong hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture and flow cytometry (FACS)
Experience with liquid handling systems or screening platforms
Proficiency in endpoint and kinetic assays (luminescence, fluorescence, activity-based, imaging-based)
Familiarity with protein biophysics and design, including ELISA, BLI, DSF, or similar methods
Excellent collaboration, documentation, and communication skills
Demonstrated scientific productivity (publications, presentations, or patents)
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and be available to start immediately

Preferred

Experience with biochemical and cell assay design and development to support peptide discovery efforts
Proficiency in protein structure analysis (e.g., PyMOL, MOE), as well as in protein engineering and library design
Experience interpreting data from flow cytometry, analytical SEC, LC-MS, HIC, SPR, and BLI
