Responsibilities
Manage daily lab operations including microbiological, chemical, and physical testing
Ensure compliance with FDA, cGMP (21 CFR 111/117), ISO 17025 , and internal SOPs
Maintain readiness for customer, regulatory, and third-party audits
Review, approve, and release test results and Certificates of Analysis (COAs)
Oversee method validation, verification, and transfer
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of microbiologists and lab analysts
Allocate workload, manage shifts, and ensure optimal productivity
Conduct performance reviews, training plans, and skill development
Foster a culture of quality, ownership, and continuous improvement
Ensure accurate documentation, recordkeeping, and data integrity (ALCOA+)
Approve SOPs, test methods, deviations, OOS, CAPAs, and change controls
Maintain LIMS and ensure data traceability
Manage lab equipment calibration, maintenance, and qualification
Plan and execute new equipment procurement and validation
Ensure lab safety, hygiene, and biosafety compliance
Work closely with QA, Regulatory, Procurement, Operations, and Sales
Support customer inquiries, technical questionnaires, and investigations
Assist in supplier qualification and raw material evaluation
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Food Science, or related field
7–12 years of laboratory experience
Minimum 3–5 years in a lab leadership or supervisory role
Strong exposure to microbiology testing (pathogens, yeast & mold, TPC)
FDA cGMP (21 CFR 111/117)
ISO 17025 / GLP
Microbiology & analytical testing
OOS, CAPA, deviation handling
LIMS and data integrity systems
Strong leadership and people management
High attention to detail and integrity
Problem-solving and decision-making
Clear communication and documentation skills
Preferred
Experience in nutraceutical, dietary supplement, food, or pharma industry
