Responsibilities
Employ Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) to create detailed technical drawings for bridges and other structural elements
Draft and detail tasks that contribute to the development of moderately complex final plans based on preliminary sketches, existing highway and bridge plans, as well as field survey data
Prepare and verify mathematical calculations, as well as establish horizontal and vertical alignments and drainage parameters through mathematical formulas
Participate in field inspections of bridges related to rehabilitation and replacement projects, developing inspection notes and sketches with limited guidance from professional staff
Review and verify the accuracy and detailing of bridge and structure plans completed by others, providing support and mentorship to junior staff members
Qualification
Required
One year as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
Two years of experience in a variety of drafting assignments, one of which shall have been in bridge and structural drafting, including six months CADD experience or training, and graduation from high school
One year of experience in bridge and structural drafting and detailing assignments including six months of CADD experience or training and an Associate's Degree in civil engineering, drafting, or design technology
Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training
You must meet the PA residency requirement
You must be able to perform essential job functions
