Responsibilities

Assist in the installation, maintenance, and/or repair of electrical systems by performing duties such as lifting, carrying, and handing tools and equipment to the journey-level employee; helping to diagnose, repair, assemble, and install electrical components; helping to cut and thread electrical conduit according to clear instructions; cutting or drilling previously marked holes in walls; using test equipment to provide preliminary electrical readings; digging trenches or holes for installation of conduit or supports; maintaining electrical work logs; etc
Assist in the installation, maintenance, and/or repair of high-voltage (above 600 volts) electric power control equipment, distribution lines, or electric-generating equipment
Assist with the disassembly, repair, reassembly, and/or testing of electrical equipment
Perform various laboring duties that require moderate physical effort. Regularly and routinely lift up to 50 pounds as part of electrician related duties. May be required to use chainsaws to clear hazards from electrical lines
Clean work areas and tools in order to maintain a safe and orderly workshop
Complete appropriate data entry in automated software systems required for electrical projects
Dig ditches for repair and installation of electrical lines

U.S. Citizenship required
Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication
Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males
You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties
You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards
You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work
Travel, transportation & relocation expenses will not be paid
Applicants must be at least (1) 18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program
Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT)
Knowledge of Electrical Equipment
Theory and Instruments (Electrical, Electronic) Used in Shop and Trade Practices
Policies and safe work practices governing the trade of electrician
Knowledge of automated computer software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) in order to complete appropriate data entry in automated software systems required for electrical projects
Ability to follow clearly described instructions and diagrams to assist journey-level Electricians
There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions
