Chartway Credit Union is offering a Summer Internship for law students, providing real-world experience and professional growth. The Legal Intern will work closely with the Vice President of Legal on various projects, including the implementation of a Contract Lifecycle Management system and the creation of contract playbooks.

Responsibilities

The implementation of an enterprise-wide Contract Lifecyle Management system-from Need identification, vetting, negotiation, approval, retention, alerting and partnership review
The creation of various contract playbooks with training
A comprehensive Virgina, Utah and Texas advocacy program plan

Qualification

Legal researchDocument draftingContract lifecycle managementRegulationsAssisting in lawsuit preparationUsing research toolsCommunication skills

Required

Must be a law student that has completed 1st or 2nd year of law school
Has conducted legal research
Some experience with drafting documents and procedures

Preferred

Assisting in lawsuit preparation and response
Good communication skills - written and verbal
Familiarity in using research tools such as LexisNexis/Westlaw
Familiar with regulations that govern credit unions, such as NCUA, CFPB rules and regulations: keeping abreast of proposed and pending state statutes
Contracting, and review Analyzing and responding to legal inquiries from various lines of business
