Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking to fill the position of Engineering Technician within the Department of Transportation. This role involves providing engineering support, participating in a comprehensive training program, and engaging in technical drafting tasks related to highway design and construction.

Responsibilities

Provide engineering support to different units within PennDOT

Gain insights into the department's policies, procedures, organizational frameworks, and operational workflows

Participate in a structured training program that includes rotational assignments across various engineering districts

Engage in technical drafting tasks, producing highway plans derived from field survey data

Design minor highway projects from the initial engineering phase through to the final plan

Complete minor design assignments under the supervision of a civil engineer, highway designer, or highway drafter designer

Utilize Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) software to enhance efficiency and accuracy

Required

An associate degree in surveying, drafting, designing, civil, or any other appropriate field of engineering technology

Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree

A conditional offer of employment will require submission of criminal history reports
