The City of Newport Beach is seeking a Public Works Technical Aide to join their Public Works Department. This part-time position involves both office and field work, supporting various public works projects while requiring current enrollment in a college-level civil engineering program.

Currently, there are two part-time vacancies in the Public Works Department
Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis with the first review date of December 2, 2025, at 5:00 p.m., or at 150 applications - whichever occurs first
In order for the application package to be considered complete, candidates are required to attach to their online application: Proof of current enrollment (transcripts or class schedule) in a college-level civil engineering program
The most qualified candidates will be invited to a virtual interview
Tentatively scheduled for the week of December 11, 2025
Passing applicants will be placed on an eligibility list that may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur
This position may work up to 19 hours per week and will perform both office and field work

Qualification

AutoCADGISCivil EngineeringField WorkConstruction Experience

Required

Proof of current enrollment (transcripts or class schedule) in a college-level civil engineering program
High school graduation or equivalent
Current enrollment in a college-level program in civil engineering
A valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record

Preferred

Experience with computer aided drafting (AutoCAD)
Familiarity with geographic information systems (GIS)
