Software Engineering Manager

Undisclosed Employer is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead high-performing engineering teams responsible for designing, building, and scaling reliable software platforms and customer-facing applications. This role involves people leadership, technical oversight, and ensuring teams meet product roadmaps while maintaining high standards for code quality and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and grow software engineers through regular coaching, performance management, and career development planning
Own delivery outcomes for multiple concurrent initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with measurable business impact
Partner closely with Product Management to translate business requirements into clear technical plans, milestones, and engineering backlogs
Establish and enforce best practices for software development, including code reviews, testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and documentation
Drive architectural decisions in collaboration with senior engineers, ensuring systems are scalable, secure, and maintainable
Monitor and improve engineering productivity using data-driven metrics such as sprint velocity, deployment frequency, defect rates, and system reliability
Proactively identify technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and operational risks, and lead remediation efforts
Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and psychological safety across the engineering organization
Coordinate cross-functionally with Design, QA, DevOps, Data, and Customer Support to ensure seamless delivery and post-release stability

Required

6+ years of professional software development experience, including hands-on coding in modern programming languages
2+ years of experience managing software engineers or technical teams
Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, and SDLC best practices
Proven ability to lead teams delivering complex, production-grade systems
Experience working closely with product and business stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical audiences

Preferred

Experience managing distributed or fully remote engineering teams
Background in cloud-native architectures, microservices, and API-driven systems
Familiarity with DevOps practices, observability tooling, and production operations
Prior experience scaling teams or platforms in a high-growth environment
