Pharmacy Intern – KPWA Contact Center

The National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives is seeking several pharmacy interns to assist with their 2026 New Member Season. This position provides practical work experience for pharmacy students in a patient-centered care environment, facilitating the recruitment of pharmacists and providing mentoring opportunities for staff pharmacists.

Responsibilities

The timely and appropriate distribution of drug therapy in compliance with state and federal laws and in accordance with Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington policies and procedures
Effectively communicate with patients concerning their medications on issues including, but not limited to: mechanism of action, adverse effects, dosing, and storage requirements
Assure 100% appropriateness of drug therapy under the supervision of a pharmacist
Ensures patient safety by identifying opportunities to prevent unusual occurrences; consistently performing safety checks when dispensing medications; and taking appropriate steps to resolve and report unusual occurrences

Required

Current enrollment in a pharmacy program
Ability to work 16-40 hours per week
Knowledge of state and federal laws regarding drug therapy
Effective communication skills with patients regarding medications
Ability to assure appropriateness of drug therapy under supervision
Commitment to patient safety and ability to perform safety checks when dispensing medications
