Roxbury Tenants of Harvard Association is seeking a Director of Teen Programs to ensure the effective planning, development, and delivery of programs for youth ages 13 to 19. The role involves leadership in program development, supervision of staff, and fostering a positive environment for youth engagement.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership in the planning, implementation, and delivery of engaging programs for youth ages 13 to 19

Research and operationalize best practices and innovative program models. Maintaining safety as a priority and ensuring staff, volunteer, and participants does the age-appropriate programs and activities

Conduct an annual program planning process that emphasizes concrete goals for each program as well as coordination and communication among programs and departments

Supervise and direct teen staff and volunteers in all phases of their work

Provide guidance and discipline to ensure a safe and positive environment for youth & staff

Plan for and conduct staff meetings on a regularly scheduled basis

Effectively communicate with and train staff to be leaders and to embrace the organizational mission

Increase the visibility of the teen center and effectively recruit teens and volunteers while maintaining those currently enrolled

Interpret and implement the objectives, standards, and programs outlined by the organization as is appropriate for the population of the teens

Ensure the incorporation of character development, healthy lifestyles, academic enrichment, age-appropriate, and gender-specific programs and activities

Ensure the planning, development, and implementation of Targeted Programs

Design programs and coordinate age-appropriate special events

Create an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging for members

Maintain contact with parents/guardians to ensure the effectiveness of the program via parent calls/meetings, school outreach, etc

Provides for the upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports program participation

Required

Ability to communicate effectively with young people from diverse backgrounds, ages 13-18 as well as a range of other organizational personnel in a courteous and professional manner

Highly motivated and dedicated to the organizational mission

Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential

Proven track record of engaging youth in a responsible and mature manner

4 year degree required
