Responsibilities

Identifying and championing opportunities for transformative customer support improvements, ensuring that the IT infrastructure is strategically aligned and contributes to the achievement of the agency's strategic goals and objectives
Collaborating with senior leadership, technical teams, and stakeholders to implement solutions, resolve critical issues, and deliver impactful results
Organizing, planning, and leading the implementation of complex, enterprise-wide systems designed to provide and significantly enhance existing applications
Working with a broad range of stakeholders, including senior leadership and technical teams, to identify strategic needs and develop innovative IT solutions

Basic Requirement: Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below

You qualify for this position if you meet the basic requirement listed above and possess one year of specialized experience as described below
Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level
Monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving complex issues to sustain stable, efficient operation of essential IT systems supporting mission objectives
Partnering with cross-functional teams to research, pilot, and apply practical service-delivery improvements for stakeholders/customers
Developing and refining technical solutions to recurring system challenges, streamlining operational workflows, and elevating user satisfaction
Translating detailed technical concepts into clear, concise briefings and documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences
Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs
You must meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process by 01/16/2026

Background Investigation: U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is a federal law enforcement agency that requires all applicants to undergo a thorough background investigation prior to employment
During the screening and/or background investigation process, you will be asked questions regarding any felony criminal convictions or current felony charges
There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by CBP
Individuals are required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates for at least three of the last five years
Probationary Period: All employees new to the federal government must serve a one year probationary period during the first year of his/her initial permanent federal appointment
Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) Eligibles: If you have never worked for the federal government, you are not CTAP/ICTAP eligible
