Responsibilities

Identify, engage, and approach potential study participants within the newborn unit at the University of Michigan-Sparrow Health System
Clearly explain the study's purpose and procedures to eligible individuals
Work with identified hospital staff to determine the best times to approach patients
Screen and assess patients for eligibility based on predefined study criteria
Complete the verbal consent process with patients who are eligible for inclusion in the study
Maintain strict adherence to study protocols, ethical guidelines, and regulatory requirements throughout the recruitment process
Collect survey data on the provided tablet computer using RedCap
Provide gift cards to patients and keep a log of gift cards provided
Talk with the project Research Coordinator and Research Director on a weekly basis
Directly interact with subjects in a clinical setting, including stakeholder interviews, and administering survey instruments
Complete all other duties as assigned

Required

Minimum one year research or clinical experience
Background and interest in public health and genetics
Strong observational skills and attention to detail
Available transportation to get to participating hospital
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and effective communication skills
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description
Functions effectively as a team member
Strong organization skills
Strong attention to detail
This position is not responsible for providing patient care
