DME Technician PRN - Mon-Sat Days

The Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Technician will provide DME services to patients at the Bone and Joint Institute, ensuring proper fitting, education, and troubleshooting of equipment as directed by healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities
Fit patients for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) as directed by Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner
Provide patient education regarding use of the appropriate DME
Provide troubleshooting services to patients who have questions regarding their prescribed DME products
Responsible for entering charges for DME that is dispensed into the Electronic Medical Records system
Use of Don Joy's Motion MD system for inventory tracking, and set up Rental agreements and tracking systems
Triage/multitask based on needs and priority of a high volume clinic
Ensure that all necessary documentation and authorization is obtained as it relates to payer requirements
Attend to patients post operatively to dispense post-op required equipment and educating depending on the physicians order and prescription
Observes universal precautions
Communicates effectively with patients/families and the clinical team in a manner that promotes positive working relationships
Maintains work area and personal appearance in a way that reflects professionalism and demonstrates to our patients, visitors and coworkers the importance we place on cleanliness, orderliness and safety
Duties also included any other requests from the DME Coordinators, CEO, Clinic Manager or Coordinator, Physicians, Clinical staff and patients that included problem-solving, critical thinking, and ensuring the clients are always satisfied
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or equivalent, required
Must be versed in anatomy
Competent in the use of standard medical office equipment and medical supplies including computers with appropriate medical software, facsimile machines, copying machines and telephones
Stooping, turning, bending, squatting, kneeling and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; constant/repetitive standing; requires normal, correctable vision and hearing, and the ability to accurately discern color as necessary to perform job functions
Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English
Preferred
Clinical background or Athletic Training education preferred
At least one year of experience in a medical setting with some prior Durable Medical Equipment or similar experience is preferred
