Responsibilities

Serve as the technical lead for optomechanical display subsystem design, development, and implementation for head worn devices, including waveguide, display engines, and Rx lenses
Lead development and architecture efforts for miniaturization of novel optomechanical subsystems, working with other system and cross-functional leads to arrive at reusable designs optimized for consumer usage
Work to drive design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) efforts from early NTI to prototype to mass production, working closely with internal and external partners and contract manufacturers
Own and develop comprehensive requirements documents and tolerance stackup analyses to ensure performance and reliability of optomechanical systems through the conditions expected by mass production consumer hardware
Establish mechanical and optical metrology strategies, using these strategies to devise reliable and robust fixtures, measurement capabilities, and validation approaches

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
8 years of experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes
Experience with optomechanical displays, design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), or precision mechanical systems

Preferred

Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
4 years of experience working in optomechanical system design, or 3 years of experience with an advanced degree
Experience executing designs for precision mechanical systems, including kinematic design and tolerance analyses
Experience with multidisciplinary STOP analysis (structural-thermal-optical-performance)
Experience with opto-mechanical design, tolerance analysis for manufacturability(DFM), alignment strategies, including design for assembly(DFA) and optical testing and metrology, and use of lab-based equipment
Knowledge of end-to-end consumer electronics development processes and adaptable development approaches for designs, prototypes and scaled manufacturing
