Responsibilities
API Architect who has API experience that has a good understanding of protobuf formats, low latency responses (so someone who has worked with large volumes of data or data streaming), tuning, performance
Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in API design, development, and management, particularly with Apigee Edge Apigee Hybrid Apigee X platforms
Proven expertise in migrating on-prem Apigee workloads to AWS-native API solutions (e.g., Amazon API Gateway, ALB Lambda integrations, AWS CloudFront, or App Mesh-based APIs)
Deep understanding of API security models (OAuth 2.0, JWT, mTLS, WAF, throttling, rate limiting, API keys, etc.)
Proficiency in API proxy design, OpenAPI Swagger specifications, and REST GraphQL architecture principles
Hands-on experience with CICD pipelines for API lifecycle management using GitLab Jenkins CodePipeline
Strong working knowledge of AWS Services including API Gateway, Lambda, CloudFront, WAF, Cognito, ECS Fargate, S3, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, and Cloud Formation Terraform for IaC
Expertise in containerized API deployments (Docker/Kubernetes/EKS) and service mesh frameworks
Experience integrating legacy or hybrid API backends (SOAP, IBM MQ, Mulesoft, or mainframe APIs) into AWS-native architectures
Familiarity with AWS Bedrock AI-based API enhancement is a plus (e.g., intelligent API documentation or query translation)

Conduct technical workshops and client discussions to assess current API ecosystems and define target-state architectures
Collaborate with cloud architects, DevOps, and application teams to ensure consistent implementation of the migration roadmap
Establish API versioning, documentation standards, and centralized cataloging (via API Gateway or AWS Service Catalog)
Provide strategic guidance on cost optimization, scalability, and performance tuning for migrated APIs
Stay current on API management trends (GraphQL, Async APIs, gRPC, event-driven APIs) and integrate best practices into client roadmaps
Experience in estimating API migration efforts, preparing proposals, and leading proof-of-concept (PoC) implementations
AWS and Apigee certifications are highly preferred
