Responsibilities
Operate and maintain bindery printing equipment
Maintain a clean and safe work area
Take an active role in quality control as the bindery area is at the back end of the workflow
Is mechanically inclined – has experience running some type of equipment
Qualification
Required
Operates equipment and machinery used for processes such as packaging, bindery, finishing and print production not requiring highly specialized training or certifications
May do setups, adjustments and cleanups
Operates equipment in accordance with established procedures and safety guidelines
Reads and interprets work orders, blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery
Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, within quality guidelines and in a timely fashion
High school diploma or its equivalent preferred
May have to complete formal training in area of specialty with no to minimal prior experience in the field or in a related area
Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
Works under immediate supervision
Typically reports to a supervisor/manager
Previous experience: None to minimal
Training time: 2-6 weeks or less
Speed to efficiency: 2-3 months or less
Basic mathematical skills i.e. add, subtract, multiply, divide
Able to lift up to 50lb with assistance
Familiarity with Windows based software
Read and interpret work orders
Good mechanical aptitude
Great communication with other team members
Work effectively under time constraints
Is a person that is responsible for their own performance and output
Has a good attendance track record and is very reliable
Preferred
Experience operating the Saddle Stitcher and other bindery equipment
An understanding of process color printing and color theory
