Responsibilities
Take end-to-end ownership of III-V device development—from initial physical modeling and foundry engagement through characterization, packaging design, and production scaling
Architect and optimize III-V optoelectronic devices for next-generation photonic platforms
Lead foundry selection, process development, and supply chain relationships to ensure manufacturing scalability
Design and validate packaging solutions that maximize performance while meeting cost and reliability targets
Conduct root cause analysis on device failures and implement corrective actions
Collaborate on photonic system architecture and contribute to technology roadmap planning
Qualification
Required
MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or closely related field
5+ years developing III-V devices in production environments with measurable impact
Strong foundation in DFB laser and SOA physics, design principles, and characterization methodologies
Hands-on experience with photonic CAD tools (Lumerical, PICS3D, PhotonD, or equivalent)
Proven track record managing foundry relationships and driving yield improvements
Expertise in reliability engineering and design-for-manufacturing for photonic components
Preferred
Doctoral degree in relevant technical discipline
Proficiency with FEA simulation tools for thermal and mechanical analysis
Experience with heterogeneous integration approaches (III-V/silicon photonics, hybrid packaging)
Background in optical system design using ray tracing software
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
History of taking products from engineering prototypes to volume production
