Responsibilities
Define and deliver advanced photonic IC architectures for high-bandwidth communication and signal-processing applications
Design and optimize spectral filtering structures, switching topologies, and routing meshes, collaborating closely with layout and packaging engineers
Build and refine optical link and system models to guide design trade-offs, performance margins, and product roadmap decisions
Qualification
Required
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related field
5+ years of industry experience in integrated photonic circuit design, with a track record of tapeouts or shipped designs
Deep experience in spectral filter design for integrated photonics and in constructing and analyzing optical link budgets
Strong foundation in photonic switch design and array/antenna-style photonic structures, plus hands-on ownership of chip-level layouts for commercial foundry runs
Proficiency with photonic device simulators (e.g., Lumerical-class tools) and circuit/link simulation environments for integrated optics
Direct experience executing multiple tapeouts with external foundries
Preferred
Use of Python for design automation, data handling, and integration with simulation or layout flows, together with modern version control practices
Familiarity with physical verification flows, including DRC and LVS, and experience with industry-standard verification tools
Strong written and verbal communication skills with comfort presenting to senior technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience helping transition hardware from research prototypes into robust, manufacturable products
