Responsibilities

Analyze daily Material Requirements Planning report to effectively manage ingredients and packaging inventory levels and ensure timely supplier deliveries to meet production requirements

Manage cost of goods relative to budget and market conditions

Prepare, issue, and expedite purchase orders in accordance with company policy and negotiated terms and conditions

Purchase or release contracted ingredients including flours, fig, sugar, shortening, syrups, fillings, flavors, and chemicals to meet production requirements

Purchase packaging goods for production needs including but not limited to corrugated, plastic trays, printed films, and chipboard cartons

Supervise and support one employee reporting directly, and provide back up assistance purchasing miscellaneous items for various departments including but not limited to maintenance, sanitation, lab, safety, and office supplies

Track Purchasing activity and measurements. Aid in reducing costs and securing agreements

Identify and resolve problems and provide corrective action to material shortages or quality issues

Build and develop relationships with cross functional departments, suppliers, and customers

Address defective or unacceptable goods or services with Quality Control and suppliers to determine cause and corrective or preventative action

Adhere to all environmental, health and safety requirements and procedures

Responsible for food safety and quality

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field or at least five years of prior experience in Purchasing or Materials Management for consumer product manufacturer

Regular and reliable attendance

Critical thinking and problem solving skills

Ability to multi task and independently meet assignments and deadlines

Interpersonal communication skills and ability to clarify complex processes and procedures to staff, customers, suppliers, and auditors

Proficient computer skills in Word, Outlook, and Excel
