Responsibilities
Perform Entry/trainee-level Engineering Design Of Highways And Airports On Federally Funded Projects Under The General Direction Of a Registered Professional Engineer
Assist with the preparation of engineering studies, development of various details and portions of projects and assisting with the preparation of contract documents (Engineering calculations, Plans, Specifications and Estimates)
Perform mid-level engineering design of highways and airports on federally funded projects under the general direction of a registered professional engineer
Assist in the research, development and final production of project plans, specifications, estimates and other engineering documents
Lead the engineering design of highways and airports on federally funded projects under the general direction of a registered professional engineer
Develop initial concept-level designs, vetting concept designs with the public and resource agencies for input, and finally producing construction-ready project plans, specifications, quantities, estimates, and engineering documents
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from a postsecondary institution accredited by ABET
A bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from a postsecondary institution not accredited by ABET
An Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Land Surveyor-In-Training (LSIT) certificate issued by a state or the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors; or verification of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) examination
Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an institution accredited by ABET
One year of entry level engineering, architectural or land surveying experience as an Engineering Assistant 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere
Five years of progressively responsible subprofessional engineering experience of which two years was as a Journey level Engineering Technician or Drafting Technician 3 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere
Bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an institution accredited by ABET
Two years of engineering, architectural or land surveying experience of which one year was at the working or intermediate trainee level
A bachelor's degree with a major in a branch of engineering from an institution not accredited by ABET
An Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate issued by a state or the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors; or verification of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination
At time of application, applicants are required to submit a cover letter
At time of interview, applicants are requested to submit a copy of valid Alaska driver's license
At time of interview, applicants are requested to submit three (3) professional references, including name, job title, and current phone numbers
