Responsibilities

Leads and oversees backend development using Laravel, setting technical direction, standards, and best practices to ensure secure, scalable, and high-performing systems

Owns backend architecture and delivery across core platforms, guiding system design, integrations, performance optimization, and reliability while mentoring backend engineers

Acts as the senior technical authority for backend technologies, collaborating with product, compliance, and leadership teams to align backend solutions with business and regulatory requirements

Develop high-quality software design and architecture

Identify, prioritize, and execute tasks in the software development life cycle

Develop tools and applications by producing clean, efficient code

Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting

Review and debug code

Perform validation and verification testing

Document development phases and monitor systems

Ensure software is up-to-date with the latest technology

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States

At least 4-6 years of proven experience as a Software Engineer

4+ years of experience with Laravel Framework

Experience in software development, scripting, and project management

Experience using system monitoring tools (e.g. New Relic) and automated testing frameworks

Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude

Ability to work independently

Excellent organizational and leadership skills

Demonstrable experience with OOP PHP

Experience in developing highly scalable APIs

Experience with Unit Testing/TDD

Experience working with SOLID principles

Preferred

Experience in the Payments/Fintech space is preferred

Knowledge of Typescript/Vuejs or the Statamic CMS would be a benefit
