Responsibilities
Serve as the central contact for clearance requests and inquiries from internal stakeholders across the organization
Partner with commercialization, operations, and legal teams to facilitate clearances for assets in all global territories, including merchandise and promotional use
Conduct clearances in multiple areas, including:
Merchandise derived from TV series, film, and other media properties
Talent-related approvals and risk analysis
Legal rights review and intellectual property compliance (copyright, trademark, third-party IP)
Special event or theme-related assets
Review and summarize talent agreements for executives and business partners
Analyze submissions, determine legal clearance needs, and flag issues for further review
Work within rights management systems, processes, and databases to track and manage clearance requests
Maintain and update clearance tracking systems with all requests, questions, and comments
Advise in early product development stages on best practices for asset collection and metadata for smoother legal review
Communicate clearance restrictions and guidance clearly to requestors, sometimes rewording legal language
Lead weekly legal/business meetings, capture notes, and provide summaries to participants
Manage priorities and deadlines in coordination with Legal and Business Affairs teams
Identify roadblocks, propose process improvements, and implement solutions to streamline clearance processes
Assist with collectibles and other product releases by reviewing marketing materials and supporting commercialization initiatives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree (required)
Ability to work independently with sound judgment and discretion
Exceptional organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
Strong interpersonal, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong reading and writing skills
Preferred
Legal coursework, certification, or experience with contract administration preferred
Understanding of intellectual property rights, production agreements, licensing, guild obligations, and other clearance-related legal issues
Legal clearance experience or paralegal certification
Experience in consumer products, publishing, or media-related commercialization
Some IP knowledge (copyright/trademark) helpful but not required
