Deputy Chief Policy Officer for Trademarks and Copyright
The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is seeking an experienced intellectual property law professional to serve as the Deputy Chief Policy Officer for Trademarks and Copyright. This role involves leading the formulation of legal policy proposals and overseeing trademark, copyright, and trade policy at national and international levels.

Responsibilities
Lead and direct the formulation of legal policy proposals, preparation of interpretive and supporting documentation to carry out the programs and policies, and the review and analysis of other legal proposals concerning intellectual property matters
Analyze IP policy issues before the executive branch and evaluation of public views through various means, including public hearings, request for comments, round tables, and other forms of stakeholder consultations
Develop policy and leading in promoting international development of intellectual property systems and advocating improvements in and more cost-effective means of protecting and enforcing the intellectual property rights of U.S. nationals throughout the world
Lead in developing and directing the maintenance of multilateral systems for the protection of intellectual property rights, including those administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization
Qualification
Required
Ability to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to starting
Demonstrated knowledge of both U.S. IP law and the international IP landscape, including knowledge of IP treaties and agreements, knowledge of the functioning of intergovernmental organizations that have IP-related mandates, and knowledge of the IP systems of key foreign jurisdictions
Demonstrated experience with program management, including domestic and international program planning, evaluation, and resource management

Must have successfully completed a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from an accredited educational institution
Must have a current active bar membership from any State, territory, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, District of Columbia, or Federal Court
