Responsibilities
Responding promptly to incidents and service requests, providing technical support to end-users and resolving network related issues
Supporting and maintaining our network infrastructure to ensure seamless connectivity, high availability, and optimum performance
Configuring and troubleshooting network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls and load balancers
Monitoring network performance and proactively identifying and resolving issues to ensure optimal uptime, throughput and latency
Collaborating with cross functional teams to understand business requirements and provide network solutions that align with organisational objectives
Performing network upgrades, including firmware updates and hardware replacements, while minimising disruption to the operation
Documenting network configurations, diagrams and troubleshooting guides to maintain an accurate record of the network infrastructure
Ensuring network compliance meets our networking standards
Liaising and working collaboratively with the UK Core Network Platform Team
Using initiative and working autonomously on assigned tasks and projects
Qualification
Required
Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting network devices, including switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers
Knowledge of network protocols such as Ethernet, TCP/IP, VLANs, and routing protocols like OSPF and BGP
Familiarity with network troubleshooting tools to diagnose and resolve network issues
Understanding of network security principles, including access control lists, firewall policies, and VPN configurations
Experience working with low-level network protocols and technologies, such as DHCP, DNS, NAT, and IP addressing
Ability to perform basic network device configurations, including firmware upgrades, port configurations, and VLAN assignments
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to quickly identify and resolve network issues
Excellent documentation skills to maintain accurate records of network configurations, diagrams, and troubleshooting steps
Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, provide technical support to end-users, and explain technical concepts clearly
Proven ability to work independently and manage time effectively
