1st Assistant Golf Professional

SentryWorld is seeking a 1st Assistant Golf Professional to join their golf operations leadership team. The role involves managing daily golf operations, providing professional golf advice, and ensuring exceptional customer service for guests at SentryWorld.

Responsibilities

Act as a member of the Golf Leadership team to ensure the effective delivery of services, provide professional advice and ensure overall customer satisfaction
Control and manage consistent play ensuring appropriate guest check-in and fee collection in coordination with the starter and player assistants. Enforce all rules and regulations governing golf course usage
Work independently to coordinate and manage small golf outings and assist with clinics. Also assists large group outing coordinators to ensure satisfaction and manages scoring for all large groups
Assist in tournament operations and weekly events including planning, pre-tournament contracts, post-tournament billing, promotion, course set-up, preparation, scoring, prize distribution, and follow up
Administer human resource-related activities including timely performance and salary reviews and ensure all subordinates adhere to human resources policies and practices. Select, develop, motivate, and recognize staff
Work at the pro shop counter taking reservations for golf rounds and assisting in pro shop set-up, merchandise marketing, and sales. Meet with golf company vendors and assist in ordering and selection of Pro Shop merchandise
Assist the Director of Golf in establishing events, lesson program, planning, and budgeting the golf operations
Assist with management of inside and outside service staff to ensure the highest quality of customer service is achieved
Responsible for timely and consistent maintenance of the club’s USGA Handicap System
Provide club repair and fitting services to customers as needed
Assist in player development programs using PGA tools and resources
Play golf with a variety of customers in competitive and non-competitive situations
Perform other job-related duties as assigned from time to time

Required

Associate Degree or equivalent work experience
Minimum 2 years of related work experience
Level 2 Apprentice and actively pursuing a PGA membership (in a timely manner) through the PGA Professional Golf Management (PGA PGM) program; to be completed within a 3-year time frame
Experience as an assistant golf professional at a public or resort golf operation
Golf teaching experience
Customer relations and supervision skills
In-depth knowledge of golf equipment, design and fitting of clubs
Maintain a credible golf game and remain current on teaching innovations
Available to work nonstandard hours including nights, weekends and holidays
