Design Manager
E-Frontiers is partnering with a global construction consultancy to find a Design Manager. This role is critical in leading the design phase of large-scale Data Center construction projects, ensuring alignment with client objectives and technical requirements.
Responsibilities
Act as the primary point of contact for the Data Center client and design partners
Drive project outcomes that align with client goals, budget, and schedule
Lead and facilitate client, consultant, and stakeholder meetings
Manage design platforms (Autodesk Cloud, Procore), including file structure and compliance
Oversee design schedules, weekly updates, and milestone tracking
Track design packages, scopes, narratives, and BB vs. TFO alignment
Ensure coordination across architects, engineers, EORs, and design-assist partners
Drive design clarity through submittals, shop drawings, and issue resolution
Capture and apply lessons learned across buildings and phases
Lead value engineering (VE) initiatives and information sharing across teams
Participate in weekly coordination meetings with A&E partners
Support RFI and submittal reviews, including escalation as needed
Conduct site visits with A&E and QA/QC teams
Support mock-ups, first-of-kind (FOK) reviews, and design validation
Maintain a deep understanding of design intent, BOD, and technical criteria
Support change management and PCO entitlement processes
Partner with cost teams on RFIs and bulletins with budget impact
Perform QA/QC reviews of design issuances and narratives
Ensure design changes are clearly categorized and documented
Preconstruction: Build A&E teams, manage design development, schedules, constructability reviews, budgeting, bidding strategy, and permitting
Construction: Support contractor oversight including procurement, risk, quality, safety, and execution alignment
Closeout: Manage closeout activities to meet project and client requirements
Produce cost, schedule, and status reports aligned with client expectations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5-10 years of experience managing construction projects across all phases
Strong background in design management, ideally on complex or mission-critical facilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and financial management abilities
Ability to lead diverse teams and manage multiple stakeholders
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
Mentor and manage project engineers or administrators as needed
Collaborate across internal teams to identify opportunities to add value
