Responsibilities
System Installation & Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain RF systems including LMR, public safety networks, and wireless infrastructure
Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Monitor system performance, conduct signal tests, analyze network performance, and resolve technical issues to minimize downtime
Equipment Repair: Maintain and repair RF hardware such as transmitters, receivers, and antennas
Compliance & Security: Ensure RF systems meet regulatory standards and maintain secure communication channels
Collaboration: Work closely with city departments, external agencies, and vendors to support communication projects
Qualification
Required
Strong understanding of RF principles and wireless communication standards (e.g., LTE, 5G)
Proficiency with RF test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers)
Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently
Familiarity with FCC regulations and spectrum licensing processes
Clear written and verbal communication skills for documentation and team coordination
Experience with RF design and simulation tools (e.g., Ansys, HFSS)
Knowledge of mapping software (e.g., Atoll, MapInfo)
Basic hands-on experience with LAN installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting (switches, routers, etc.)
Associate degree or equivalent technical training in Electronics, Telecommunications, or related field
Minimum 4+ years of experience in municipal or public safety RF systems installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
Preferred
Previous experience in municipal or public safety communications
Familiarity with smart city technologies and integration
CompTIA Network+ certification is a plus but not required
