Senior Technical Architect
CIBC Bank USA is building a relationship-oriented bank for the modern world and is seeking a Senior Technical Architect to shape the bank’s future technology landscape. The role involves creating a comprehensive data strategy, designing scalable solutions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing strategic leadership and mentorship within the Enterprise Architecture team.

Responsibilities
Create a comprehensive data strategy aligned with the organization's overall business strategy, outlining how data will be managed, used, and integrated across the enterprise
Design scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions for core banking, payments, lending, investment products, and digital platforms. Establish and maintain architectural standards, patterns, and documentation. Evaluate and recommend technologies to improve system performance and scalability
Ensure compliance with regulatory, data management and security standards in all designs. Develop strategies to mitigate risks and enhance cybersecurity and operational resilience
Define and execute architecture aligned with strategic business objectives. Develop long-term technology roadmaps and future-state architecture visions. Advise senior leadership on emerging technologies and their impact
Partner with cross-functional teams to align technology requirements with business goals. Mentor design and development teams on architectural best practices. Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
Qualification
Required
8+ years of experience in software design and architecture
Understanding of data management principles including data modeling, data warehousing, data integration, data governance
Experience with cloud-native solutions, containerization, and public cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS)
5+ years within financial services, focusing on banking, payments, or lending
Solid experience within enterprise architecture (TOGAF, BIAN, or related)
Experience in system design, application development, and operational resilience
Advanced knowledge of software architecture, microservices, API integrations (including open banking/finance), messaging frameworks (ex MQ, Kafka, etc)
Experience with data management and analytics platforms
TOGAF 9 certification
Azure or AWS related certifications
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
Preferred
Master's degree is a plus
Experience with FIS is an asset
CISSP or equivalent certification is an asset
