Engineering Manager
Confidential company is seeking an Engineering Manager to provide leadership and direction for all aspects of Plant Engineering. The role focuses on maximizing production volume while ensuring quality, cost, and safety targets are met, overseeing engineering, maintenance, and sustainability functions within a manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage all plant engineering activities, including equipment controls and capital projects
Direct departmental efforts related to new process design, modification of existing processes, production improvements, and development of test procedures
Manage personnel activities including recruitment, hiring, training, performance evaluations, and employee development
Analyze technology trends, workforce needs, and market demand to plan and optimize current and future projects
Facilitate improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, process efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance
Collaborate with production, management, and corporate teams to evaluate engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for products and programs
Forecast departmental operating costs and lead budget preparation and management
Actively participate in Engineering Change activities and ensure effective implementation at the plant level
Provide feedback and guidance to corporate engineering teams to support new product launches and equipment upgrades
Partner with site leadership to enhance overall operational effectiveness
Oversee plant and facility maintenance using internal teams and external contractors while managing costs and ensuring compliance with safety standards
Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, OEE, and quality performance
Perform additional duties consistent with the scope of the role
Provide overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned engineering staff
Execute supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, planning and assigning work, evaluating performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and resolving employee concerns
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related technical discipline preferred)
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within automotive or related industries
1–3 years of leadership or supervisory experience
Required experience in welding and stamping operations
Strong understanding of manufacturing KPIs and performance metrics
Experience with structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, 8D)
Proven project management, planning, scheduling, and prioritization skills
Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic prints and schematics
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and technical documents, procedures, and regulations
Ability to write reports and effectively present information to internal and external audiences
Ability to work with statistical concepts, probability, geometry, and trigonometry, and to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Experience with manufacturing ERP/MES systems (PLEX experience preferred)
Proficiency with CAD software
Ability to utilize internet-based business systems
Preferred
Strongly preferred experience with hot stamping
Experience with heat treatment processes preferred
